Panther City BBQ | Fort Worth

As a Fort Worth local, I’m shocked it took me this long to check out Panther City BBQ. I’ve been hearing rave reviews about their barbecue for the past few years and they’ve been on my to-visit list for some time now. With their #10 ranking on Texas Monthly’s Top 50 BBQ Joints last year, Mr. San Diego and I finally went to check out what all the buzz about. It was no surprise that Panther City BBQ was just as good as I had hoped it would be!

Traditional with a Little Spice

Some people are hardcore in their beliefs of traditional, old-school-style Texas barbecue. Others are passionate about fusing cultural and creative twists on this beloved food staple. Panther City BBQ is the kind of place where BOTH people can visit and thoroughly enjoy their meals.

elote and tacos

After lusting after them on Instagram, there was NO WAY I could pass up ordering the famous Brisket Elote Cup and Flacos Tacos. Honestly, they were SO STUPIDLY DELICIOUS. The Brisket Elote had the perfect consistency and flavor (a lot of places have watery elote and it drives me nuts), and the tacos were so darn good with a fantastic kick to them!

All the Classics

You can’t make it to the Top 50 (let alone the Top 10) without having amazing classic barbecue, and Panther City didn’t disappoint. The brisket was delicious and the sausage had a great snap and flavor. All the things you want in classic Texan ‘cue.

Outside Eating

…for now

I had no idea Panther City BBQ only had outdoor seating until we arrived. If I did, I might have endeavored to go earlier in the day and not on a cloudless almost-100-degree afternoon. However, their huge patio offered plenty of tables in the shade, and I barely noticed the heat once I got some brisket in my belly.

indoor seating coming soon

The building directly next door has recently been leased by Panther City BBQ, and they were in the midst of construction when we visited. There was an operational bar inside, which was delightfully air-conditioned and offered a great reprieve from the heat. Once the construction is completed, there should be plenty of indoor seating options available.
